Building a Pool - From Contract to Completion
1. PERMIT . HOA . 811
Once you have signed the contract, we begin working with your City and HOA to get the permit required to build your pool. Every City and HOA have their own permitting requirements that we adhere to. We also call 8-1-1 to locate all of your utilities so that we can dig safely. |
2. THE LAYOUT ...
Once we receive approval from your City and HOA, our team of professionals will arrive at your home to layout your pool design in your back yard. The layout is a critical part of the process. It allows you to see the size, location and shape of the pool and how it looks in your yard. If an inspection is required, we will call the City to schedule. |
4. STEEL WORK AND SHORT PLUMB.
Once the excavation is complete, a wooden framework is built. Then steel rebar is laid out in a grid pattern. It is the support system for the gunite and ensures that your pool holds its shape and remains durable for years to come. At this stage the interior plumbing lines are laid. When ready, we will schedule an inspection through your City permitting office for approval to move to the next step. |
|
5. NEXT UP - GUNITE!
Made of sand, water and cement, gunite is known for its exceptional strength and durability. Gunite is applied in layers over the steel rebar using a specialized spray gun. Because it is applied using compressed air, it's perfect on vertical or curved surfaces. According to Wikipedia, this construction technique was invented by Carl Akeley and first used in 1907. |
6. LONG PLUMB AND ELECTRICAL.
While the gunite is curing, the plumbing and electrical work is completed. During this phase your equipment pad, which will hold your pool pump(s) and filter system, is installed. There is a lot of detail work being completed by master craftsmen during this part of the project and inspected by your City Inspector. The underground details will orchestrate all of the beautiful lighting and water features. And your pad of equipment will be ready to keep your pool healthy and sparkling. |
7. TILE , WATER FEATURES AND COPING.
This is where you begin to see your pool come to life! The tile, coping and water features that you have in your design are animated through the skilled, artistic hands of our tile and coping experts.
Waterline tile is decorative, but it also serves other purposes.
If you have opted to include a water feature, this will add to the beauty and ambiance of your pool. Aside from the aesthetics, water features improve circulation and provide a soothing sound that adds calm and serenity to your pool experience.

Waterline tile is decorative, but it also serves other purposes.
- The waterline tile surface is intended to make cleaning water deposits relatively easy.
- Tile is also necessary because plaster must remain submerged—it cannot handle long-term exposure to air. Being dry will cause the material to shrink and crack.
If you have opted to include a water feature, this will add to the beauty and ambiance of your pool. Aside from the aesthetics, water features improve circulation and provide a soothing sound that adds calm and serenity to your pool experience.
8. HARDSCAPE: FORM AND POUR
