Brushing your pool is probably the most important thing you can do for your pool’s overall health and your plasters longevity.
Brushing your swimming pool walls and floor is key in removing dirt and debris and any algae spores trying to gain a foothold on your pool’s walls. It is the number one way to prevent algae. Most often, this dirt, debris, and algae spores are note visible to the eye. A pool should be brushed 1-2 times a week and will often need more brushing during the hot summer months, or after a storm. If you are getting algae, you are not brushing often enough. Proper brushing is also important. You want to brush the steps, shallow end, and benches first. Brush the walls down toward the floor, brush the floor on the shallow end toward the drain in the deep end. Brush the walls in the deep end and the deep end floor last because the idea is that you are pushing everything to the drain. Remember, if you have a pool cleaning company that cleans your pool weekly… they are only there once a week.
